Click Inventory management > Common > Bills of materials. Click Lines. Click Functions, and then click Copy.

Use this form to select a bill of materials (BOM) or route in either base data or production and make a copy of it. You can define where you want to place the copy and whether you want the copy to be added to the new location or to replace existing lines in the new location.

Note

Please note the following conditions when you use multiple sites:

  • When you copy an existing BOM to a different site, the warehouse on the BOM lines is cleared. However, if the site that you copy from and the site that you copy to are the same, the warehouse is not cleared.

  • When you copy an existing route to a different site, the operations resource on the route lines is cleared, and the default operations resources for the route relations are also cleared.

The following table provides descriptions for the controls in this form.

Copy from

Section of the form where you define the Copy from settings.

Base data

Select Base data and enter information in the relevant fields to copy the BOM or route from base data.

BOM number

Enter the BOM number to copy from.

Site

If you are using multisite, enter the site associated with the BOM.

Item number

Select the item number that the BOM or route is attached to.

Configuration

Select a BOM configuration if the BOM that you want to copy is configurable. If the BOM is not configurable, the field is not active.

Production

Click to include a production order number for this item.

Production number

This field becomes available if you select

BOM date

Enter the date to use when the program searches for BOM lines to copy from. Only lines that are valid on the date that you enter are copied from.

If this field is blank, all lines are copied.

BOM number

Select or specify the BOM number.

Production

Select this option to include a production order with the new BOM.

Production number

Select the production order that the BOM or route is to be copied from.

Copy to

Section of the form where you specify the Copy to settings.

Base data

Select this option to copy the BOM or route to base data.

BOM number

Select or specify the BOM number.

Site

If you are using multisite, enter the Site to be associated with the new BOM.

Production

Select this option if you want to copy the BOM or route to production.

Production number

Specify which production BOM you want to copy the BOM or route to.

Update BOM number

Select the check box to update the BOM number on the production.

Setup

Field group heading.

Replace

Select this option to replace lines on the BOM or route to which you are copying.

Add

Select this option to add lines on the BOM or route to which you are copying.
