External Web users (form)

Click System administration > Common > Users > External web users.

Use this form to configure perimeter network settings for external users who are stored in Active Directory Domain Services. The settings on this form only apply when a perimeter network is configured and external user accounts are stored in Active Directory.

Note

If you do not want to store external user accounts in Active Directory, but you do want to enable external users to access Enterprise Portal, you must use Microsoft Dynamics AX Flexible Authentication. For information, see Deploy an Enterprise Portal site that uses forms-based authentication.

Install Enterprise Portal in a traditional perimeter network

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Description

External users will not access the Enterprise Portal

Select this option if external user accounts that are stored in Active Directory will not access Enterprise Portal.

Standard perimeter network

Select this option if you have set up your Internet-facing topology as a Standard Perimeter Network.

Active Directory organizational unit for external users

Enter the organizational unit folder name as it appears in Active Directory.

Note

If you receive a message to, “Enter a valid Active Directory Organizational Unit” you might not have permission in the perimeter network to configure this setting. Verify that you are a member of the Microsoft Dynamics AX administrator group in the perimeter domain.

Active Directory security group for external users

Enter the security group for external users.

Basic perimeter network

Select this option if you have set up your Internet-facing topology as a traditional perimeter network.

Active Directory domain controller name for the perimeter network

Enter the domain controller that contains the external users.
