Eseutil /Y Copy File Mode

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 will reach end of support on April 11, 2017. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Applies to: Exchange Server 2007, Exchange Server 2007 SP1, Exchange Server 2007 SP2, Exchange Server 2007 SP3

The Exchange Server Database Utilities (Eseutil.exe) /Y copy file mode is optimized to copy very large files efficiently. You can use the /Y switch to copy a database file or log file. However, the mode is not suitable as a general purpose copy utility.

Depending on disk and network conditions, copy file mode may be able to copy a file up to 20 percent faster than a normal copy because the copy file mode in Eseutil copies files in larger blocks of data.

Note

Because copy file mode does not accept wildcard characters (such as *.* to copy all files or *.edb to copy all database files), you must fully specify a file name and copy one file at a time.
