Authentication
Authentication plug-ins are used in conjunction with one or more authorization plug-ins to control access to the content on the server. Windows Media Services contains the following authentication plug-ins:

Authentication and authorization plug-ins work together to grant clients access to streaming media content. If an authorization plug-in is enabled, but no authentication plug-in is enabled, unicast clients cannot access the server.
