Deactivate a scope

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To deactivate a scope

  1. Open DHCP.

  2. In the console tree, click the applicable scope.

    Where?

    • DHCP/applicable DHCP server/applicable superscope (if used)/applicable scope
  3. On the Action menu, click Deactivate.

Important

  • Do not use Deactivate to pause a scope. Instead, adjust the available scope address range by setting exclusions for scope addresses.

  • The Action menu command name changes to Activate when the selected scope is currently deactivated.

Note

  • To open DHCP, click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click DHCP.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
