Prepare Your Build Computer

You should create the build structure that you need on the computer that you will be using to build the custom browser package. The folders that are needed vary depending on your license agreement and the version of Windows® Internet Explorer® Administration Kit 8 (IEAK 8) that you are using: Internet service provider (ISP), Internet content provider (ICP), or corporate administrator (Corporate).

The options are as follows, where root_folder is a placeholder for the name you choose for the main folder for files built by IEAK:

Folder name Description

\root_folder

(All versions) Parent root for all files built by IEAK or referenced in your custom package.

\root_folder\Custom

(ISP version only) Custom files (such as Signup.isp, Signup.htm, ICWsign.htm, Install.ins, and Cancel.ins) for server-based sign-up.

\root_folder\Dist

(ISP version only) Destination directory for the files. This folder is needed only if you are creating your browser package on a hard disk or network drive.

\root_folder\Bitmaps

(All versions) Custom bitmap files (graphic files needed for your custom browser).

If you are an ISP and you choose to include sign-up in the custom package, you must make configuration files available in the build file structure that you created. Sample files are provided in the IEAK Toolkit for the .htm files required to support each sign-up method. You can also use existing files from another package.

Note

The Internet sign-up option is not available for the Windows Vista® operating system.

To copy the files for Internet sign-up for IEAK

  1. Copy all the files contained in the following subfolders, depending on the method you want to use:

    • <systemdrive>:\Program Files\Windows IEAK 8\toolkit\isp\servless for serverless (client-based) Internet sign-up

    • <systemdrive>:\Program Files\Windows IEAK 8\toolkit\isp\Server for server-based Internet sign-up

  2. Paste these files into the CIE\Custom folder.
