You can prepare sales orders in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing. Sales orders are used to track orders from clients prior to their being invoiced. Business Development and Sales Representatives use sales orders to take orders that are invoiced when items and services have been provided to clients.

Sales orders are similar to invoices but don't post to the General Ledger.  

To view sales orders, go to Budgeting > Receipts > Sales Orders.

  1. On the Invoices page, choose the New button New button.

    Microsoft Dynamics Marketing opens the new Sales Order page.

  2. Enter the information:

    Field

    Description

    Status

    Select a status for the Sales Order. (Optional.) More information: Create custom drop-down values and folders

    Bill To

    Select a contact. (Optional.)

    Ship To

    Select a contact. (Optional.)

    Company

    Select the client company the Sales Order is for from the pull-down menu. (Required.)

    PO #

    Enter the Purchase Order # from the client.

    Tax

    Select the tax rate that applies to the Sales Order.

    Company

    Select the client company the Sales Order is for from the pull-down menu. (Required.)

    Memo

    Enter additional information by choosing the Memo button Edit button. (Optional.)

    Date

    Enter the date the Sales Order was prepared. (Required.)

    Due Date

    Enter the due date for the Sales Order. The due date is the date payment is due from the client; if the client has terms, the due date is automatically calculated by the system but can be changed. (Required.)

    Terms

    Select the credit terms that apply from the pull-down menu. (Optional.)

    Prepared by

    Select a contact. (Required.)

    Remit To

    Select a contact. The Remit To enables you to specify an alternate remittance contact/address. (Optional.)

    Rep

    Select the sales representative contact from the pull-down menu. (Required.)

    Default Report

    Select the default report to use for this transaction. (Optional.)

  3. Choose Save.

The Items grid displays all the items included in the Sales Order.

  • Choose the Edit Mode grid button Edit button to change the grid to Edit Mode. In Edit Mode you can save time by editing many of the cells at the same time.

You can return the grid to standard View-Only mode at any point.

To route sales orders for approval:

  1. Select the sales orders you want to route by choosing their check boxes. Check box symbol.

  2. Choose the Approval button.
