Manage broadcast verification

Updated: November 1, 2016

Applies To: Dynamics Marketing

Microsoft Dynamics Marketing is scheduled to be retired on May 15, 2018. After that date the service will no longer be available. Please plan accordingly. For details, see the blog post Microsoft Dynamics Marketing service will be discontinued, and learn what’s coming next.

Broadcast Verification (BV) lets Microsoft Dynamics Marketing users verify that the TV ads that have been ordered actually did run as ordered.

Broadcast Verification uses a technology called VEIL. VEIL stands for Video Encoded Invisible Light. VEIL enables broadcasters to encode information into TV commercials that can be detected by special machines, but that cannot be seen by the human eye. Advertisers can subscribe to broadcast verification services that provide reports that contain information about ads including which ad ran and the specific date and time the ad ran.

To work with broadcast verification, you must be a user of type Media Buyer and have Edit/View Broadcast Verification privileges. More information: Work with user accounts and staff contacts

Broadcast verification functions in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing lets users download BV files in the Commercial 2 format offered by Kantar Media and import them into Microsoft Dynamics Marketing. The Broadcast Verification dashboard lets users see BV information and automatically matches ordered spots with BV data. Any BV data that cannot be matched automatically can be processed manually. Once orders have been verified using the BV data, they can be released to Accounts Payable for payment:

  • User imports new BVS records.

  • User chooses the Auto match button.

  • Microsoft Dynamics Marketing attempts to match all unmatched BVS records with unmatched spots on order.

  • User can review the matches and clear them if they are correct.

  • User can select spots and one or more BVS records and choose the Match button to manually match records.

  • Once a spot (Dynamics Marketing Order Item) has been fully matched, its traffic status is set to Verified.

  • When all of the items on a media order have been verified, Dynamics Marketing updates the status of the media order to Verified.

  • Users can post the verified media orders to accounts payable by expensing them.
