Microsoft Dynamics Marketing provides an integrated approach to media and their rate cards. Microsoft Dynamics Marketing's rate cards are designed to be used across all media types.  With a view towards the future, rate cards are designed to provide consistent functionality across all media types.Microsoft Dynamics Marketing provides robust functions to help users create and manage rate cards which contain 'standard' rates for the media you buy and sell. Each rate that is in a Rate Card is a Rate Card Item.

Rate Card functions are included in the Media Buying Option. Professional and Enterprise editions enables users to add the basic media buying and planning functions with the Media Buying Option or MBO. The MBO is a 'user' subscription, that is, each user must add an MBO subscription to their 'standard' user subscription at an additional cost. To inquire about the cost of these options, contact your Microsoft Dynamics Marketing Account Manager.

To view Rate Cards, users must have Edit/View Rate Cards privileges. More information: Work with user accounts and staff contacts.

  1. Go to Assets & Media > Media Planning > Media Outlets.

  2. On the Media Outlets list page, choose the media outlet you want to work with.

  3. On the maintenance page for your selected media outlet, choose the Rate Cards tab.

The Rate Cards tab lists all of the rate cards for your current media outlet and provides many of the usual controls for searching, sorting, filtering, adding, removing and viewing items in the list, plus other common features. For details about how to use these common controls, see Learn how to work and get around in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing.

More information: Create, view, and delete rate cards

  1. Go to the appropriate media outlet and open its Rate Cards tab as described in the previous section. Either choose an existing rate card or create a new one (see also Create, view, and delete rate cards). This brings you to the Rate Card maintenance page.

  2. On the Rate Card maintenance page, choose the New button  New button.

  3. Choose a media rate type from the Type drop-down list and choose Submit.

  4. You should now be on the Add page. The settings here will vary depending on the media rate type you chose. Fill out all of the relevant values and choose Submit to save the item.

  1. Go to the appropriate media outlet and open its Rate Cards tab as described above under “View rate cards”. Either choose an existing rate card or create a new one (see also Create, view, and delete rate cards). This brings you to the Rate Card maintenance page.

  3. Choose the Copy button Copy button.

  4. Microsoft Dynamics Marketing prompts you to specify the length/duration of the new rates and the factor by which the current cost and price should be multiplied. For example, if the cost is $500 and the factor is 1.5 then the new cost would be $500 x 1.5 = $750.

  5. Choose OK.

The Mass Update button enables you to update multiple rates in a single operation.

  1. Go to the appropriate media outlet and open its Rate Cards tab as described above under “View rate cards”. Either choose an existing rate card or create a new one (see also Create, view, and delete rate cards). This brings you to the Rate Card maintenance page.

  2. On the Rate Card maintenance page, select the items you want to update by marking their check boxes.

  3. Choose the Mass Update button.

Microsoft Dynamics Marketing displays the Mass Update Options window.

  4. Specify the information you want to change.

  5. Choose Submit.

The Rate Wizard button enables you to 'clone' 30-second rates and create rates for a different spot length/duration and to multiply the 30-second rates by a specified 'factor'. For example, if you had a rate card from a station containing 30-second spots rates and you wanted to create rates for 45-second spots that are 1.5 times the rates of the 30-second spots, you could use the Rate Wizard to create all of the rates in a single operation.

  1. Go to the appropriate media outlet and open its Rate Cards tab as described above under “View rate cards”. Either choose an existing rate card or create a new one (see also Create, view, and delete rate cards). This brings you to the Rate Card maintenance page.

  2. On the Rate Card maintenance page, choose the Rate Wizard button.

Microsoft Dynamics Marketing displays the Rate Wizard window.

  3. Select the new spot length/duration you want to create by marking their check boxes.

  4. Specify the factor (%) you want to use. For example if a 30-second spot's rate was $500 and you want to create a 45-second rate with a 15o% factor, the new rate will be $500 x 150% = $750.

  5. Choose Submit.
