Create and view advertisements

Microsoft Dynamics Marketing is scheduled to be retired on May 15, 2018. After that date the service will no longer be available. Please plan accordingly. For details, see the customer FAQ. The advertisement management function in Microsoft Dynamics Marketing is designed to track display advertisements, direct mail pieces, banner advertisements, TV commercials, radio spots, outdoor advertisements, billboards, signs, inserts, and more. An advertisement library is the place where users will find all the information about every ad that has been created. Building a library of advertisements will pay long term dividends:

  • Users can specify which advertisement was used when media is ordered.

  • Users can track the costs of developing each advertisement.

  • Users can access and retrieve the digital files of the advertisements.

  1. Click or tap Home > Assets & Media > Advertisements.

    Microsoft Dynamics Marketing displays the list of advertisements.

  2. Click or tap the New button New button.

  3. Enter the information as follows:




    Enter a code for the advertisement. (Optional.)


    If an advertisement's status is set to inactive, the advertisement's name is no longer able to be selected in other Microsoft Dynamics Marketing functions. (optional).


    Enter a name for the advertisement.


    Enter a description of the advertisement. (Optional.)

    Media Outlet

    Is the type of media the advertisement will be delivered through. Select the Media outlet from the drop-down menu. (Optional.)

    In Service

    Is the date the advertisement was first used, released or distributed. (Optional.)


    Is the date the advertisement expires or when the advertisement should no longer be used. (Optional.)


    Select the company/client the advertisement is for. (Optional.)

    Start Date

    Enter or edit the date the advertisement was created.

  4. Click Submit.

Enter the following information:






Enables you to group advertisements by type. (Optional.)


Enables you to group advertisements in folders and display the folders. (Optional.).

Source Code

Select the source code used in the advertisement. (Optional.)


Enter a long description or additional information about the advertisement. (Optional.)


Select the phone number used in the advertisement. (Optional.)


Select the offer used in the advertisement. (Optional.)


Select the email address used in the advertisement. (Optional.)

Landing Page

Select the landing page used in the advertisement. (Optional.)

Print Details

Trim Width

Specify the width dimension of a printed advertisement. (Optional.)

Trim Height

Specify the trim height of a printed advertisement. (Optional.)

Bleed Width

Specify the bleed width dimension of a printed advertisement. (Optional.)

Bleed Height

Specify the trim height of a printed advertisement. (Optional.)

Height/Width Units

Specify the units of measure to be used for the height, width, and length dimensions of the advertisement. (Optional.)

# of Pages

Specify the number of pages the advertisement requires. (Optional.)


Specify the paper material such as coated, flat, gloss, matte, or recycled. (Optional.)

Paper Weight

Specify the weight of the paper used for the advertisement. (Optional.)

# of Colors

Specify the number of colors such as 2 color, 4 color, 4 color on both sides, or black & white. (Optional.)


Specify the weight in grams, kilograms, or pounds. (Optional.)

A/V Details


Specify the duration of the advertisement. (Optional.)


Specify the number of frames per second of the advertisement. (Optional.)


Select the format of the advertisement. (Optional.)

  1. On the View Advertisements page, select the advertisements you want to copy by clicking on their check boxes.

  2. Click or tap the Copy button. Copy button button.

  3. Click OK.

Advertisements can't be permanently deleted since information throughout Microsoft Dynamics Marketing is linked to them. Advertisements can be marked canceled or deleted.

  1. Select the advertisements you want to delete by clicking their check boxes.

  2. Click or tap the Delete button Delete button .

    Microsoft Dynamics Marketing prompts you to confirm the deletion.

  3. Click OK.

On the View Advertisements page, click or tap the Show All button Show All/Active Only button. Microsoft Dynamics Marketing displays deleted and canceled advertisements.
