Click Accounts receivable > Setup > Billing code custom fields.

Click Accounts receivable > Setup > Billing codes. Click the Custom fields tab.

You can create and assign custom fields to billing codes and collect values for the fields when free text invoices are created. For example, if a user creates a free text invoice with a billing code line for a false alarm charge, you can also request that they enter the day of the week and the time of day that the alarm occurred.

Note

This form is available only if the Public Sector configuration key is selected.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab	Description
Details	Enter the variable name, default value, and custom field requirements.
Description	Enter usage details and help text for the custom field.
Billing code references	View a list of billing codes that the selected custom field is assigned to.

Buttons

Button	Description
New	Create a new billing code custom field.
Delete	Delete the selected billing code custom field. Note You can only delete custom fields that have not been associated with a billing code.

Fields

Fields	Description
Name	Enter the custom field name that is visible to the user.
Type	Select the data type to assign to the custom field. Note You can only modify custom field types that have not been associated with a billing code.
Variable name	Enter the name that will be used in rate scripts. Note The variable name must be a string with no spaces and use only letters, numbers, and the underscore character.
Default	Enter a default value for the custom field.
Enforce minimum value	Select this check box to set a minimum requirement that must be met to save the custom field value. Note This field is only available for integer, decimal, and currency custom field types.
Minimum value	Enter the minimum value for the custom field.
Enforce maximum value	Select this check box to set a maximum value that cannot be exceeded. Note This field is only available for integer, decimal, and currency custom field types.
Maximum value	Enter the maximum value for the custom field.
Maximum length	Enter the maximum number of characters allowed for the custom field (up to 255 characters). Note This field is only available for text custom field types.
Usage description	Describe how the custom field should be used. This is for internal purposes only and is not visible to the user.
Help text	Enter status bar information that will assist users with their data entry. Note This field is limited to 100 characters.
