Indirect cost component (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Project management and accounting > Setup > Indirect costs > Indirect cost components.

Use this form to create an indirect cost component that is used to calculate and post indirect costs to a project. Indirect costs are not directly attributable to the production of an item or the performance of a service. Examples of indirect costs are electricity, office supplies, or rent.

When you create an indirect cost component, you must assign a project category to the cost component. A project category defines how indirect costs are posted to financial accounts. The project category that you select must be set up for indirect costs. For more information about how to set up a category for indirect costs, see Project categories (form).

You can assign related cost components to an indirect cost component group, and then select the group of indirect costs to associate with a project. As workers record their hours on a project, indirect costs are calculated as an amount or as a percentage of the value of the worker hours.

Note

If you are using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack or Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, this form is available only if the Project Management and Accounting Add-in is installed.
