Item forecasts (form)

Click Project management and accounting > Inquiries > Forecasts > Item forecast.

Click Project management and accounting > Common > Projects > All projects. Select or open a project. On the Action Pane, on the Plan tab, in the Forecast group, click Item forecasts.

–or–

Click Project management and accounting > Common > Projects > Project contracts. Select or open a project contract. On the Action Pane, on the Plan tab, in the Forecast group, click Item forecast.

Use this form to create and view item forecast lines.

View information about financial dimensions, such as the default dimensions and where the dimensions are used in account structures and advanced rule structures.

Inventory dimensions

Create, view, and modify information about the physical attributes and location of the selected item.

Define criteria to filter the item forecast lines.

Forecast balances

View selected item forecasts by fiscal period.

View the projected inventory transactions for the selected item forecast.

Cash flow forecasts

View the cash flow forecast that is generated for the item forecast.

Inventory

Select the inventory dimensions that are displayed on the Overview tab.

Project

View the general ledger entries for the selected item forecast.

Copy

Copy the selected item forecast to a sales order, an item requirement, or an item consumption record.

Transfer quotation lines

Transfer selected project quotation lines to the item forecast.

Create lines

Generate the individual schedule lines for the forecast based on the settings that you select in the Allocation area. The forecast is then distributed according to date, quantity, and amount.

Fields

Description

Model

The forecast model that the forecast is associated with.

Date

The date for the item forecast.

Project ID

View or select the system identification for the project.

Item number

View or select the system identification for the item.

Item allocation key

The item allocation key that is used in inventory forecast allocation. This field is also used for category-based forecasts.

Sales quantity

The transaction quantity in the item sales unit.

Unit

The unit that the item is sold in.

Cost price

The cost-price per unit for the item forecast.

Currency

The currency for the item forecast. The default currency is entered automatically, but it can be changed.

Budget type

The type of budget information that this forecast holds.

  • Original – The forecast holds the budget amount that was first committed.

  • Remaining – The forecast holds the budget amount that is remaining. This amount is reduced by transactions and increased or decreased by budget revisions.

  • Revision – The forecast holds the amounts by which a remaining budget was changed.

  • None – The forecast is not used for budget control.

Method

The method to use for allocating forecast quantities. Select one of the following options:

  • None – No allocation occurs.

  • Period – Use this method to set up a time period for allocating the forecast quantity. When this option is selected, it is used with the Per field, the Unit field, and the End field.

  • Key – The forecast quantity is allocated according to the period allocation key that you specify in the Period key field. You can use this method when you want to take seasonal variation into account.

Per

The number of units in the time interval that is selected in the Unit field. For example, if you enter 1 and select Months in the Unit field, the forecast is allocated by month. If you enter 3 and select Months, the forecast is allocated by quarter

Unit

The forecast time interval. Select one of the following options:

  • Days – The allocation corresponds to the number of days that you specify in the Per field.

  • Months – The allocation corresponds to the number of months that you specify in the Per field.

  • Years – The allocation corresponds to the number of years that you specify in the Per field.

Period key

The period allocation key for allocating the forecast. For more information, see Period allocation categories (form).

End

The ending date of the forecast allocation when you are using the Period method.

Item group

View or select the item group that the forecast is associated with.

Customer account

The customer who is associated with the forecast.

Customer group

The customer group that is associated with the forecast.

Model

View or select the forecast model that is associated with the item forecast.

Report

Select the check box to include the forecast in reporting.

Comments

View or enter a comment about the forecast.

Active

Select the check box to include the forecast in budget reporting. The field cannot be edited for reporting transactions.

Cash flow forecasts

Select this check box to allocate the forecast to the general ledger. The field cannot be edited for reporting transactions. For more information, see Cash flow forecast transactions (form).

Sales tax group

View or select the tax group, if any, that specifies the sales taxes that apply to the forecast.

Item sales tax group

View or select the item tax group, if any, that specifies the item sales taxes that apply to the forecast.

Unit price

View or enter the sales price per item unit. The information is entered automatically, but you can modify it.

Amount

The gross amount that the selected forecast transaction contributes to the forecast.

Price unit

The number of sales units to which the sales price applies. The number is entered automatically, but you can change it.

Sales charges

View or enter the fixed charges on the sales price. The charges are independent of quantity.

Cost price

The cost per inventory unit for the forecast. The cost is entered automatically, but you can change it.

Discount percentage

View or enter the discount expressed as a percentage.

Cash discount amount

View or enter the discount expressed in amount per sales unit.

Gross amount

The gross amount that the selected forecast transaction contributes to the forecast. This figure does not include the discount percentage amount.

Inventory quantity

View or enter the forecast quantity expressed in the item's inventory unit.

Sub-BOM

View or select the BOM number of a specific sub-BOM.

Subroute

View or select the route number of a specific subroute.

Project date

The date of the item forecast. The current date is automatically entered. To change the date, open the calendar.

Project ID

View or select the project identification number for the forecast.

Funding source

View or select the funding source that the forecast is associated with.

Activity number

View or select the activity that is associated with the forecast.

Category

View or select the cost category for the current transaction.

Line property

View or select the line property status for the forecast.

Transaction ID

The system identification for the item forecast.

Cost amount

The item forecast amount.

Active

Select the check box to include the transaction in budget reporting.

Modified by

The identification number of the worker who last modified the selected forecast.

Invoice date

View or enter the expected invoicing date.

Elimination date

View or change the elimination date. When the forecast is created, the elimination date is set to the end date of the project. If the project has no end date, the project date is applied. This applies to fixed-price projects and investment projects only.

Cost payment date

View or enter the expected date for the purchase payment.

Sales payment date

View or enter the expected date for the sales payment.

Financial dimensions

The financial dimensions that were set up in the Financial dimensions form.

Configuration

The specific attributes of the item.

Size

The size of the item.

Color

The color of the item.

Site

View or select the site where the item is located.

Warehouse

View or select the warehouse where the item is stored.

Batch number

The batch number dimension. If you select Edit lines and Explode lines in the upper section of the Receive form, you can change the batch number for the transfer order line.

Location

The location of the item inside a warehouse. If you select Edit lines and Explode lines in the upper section of the Receive form, you can change the location number for the transfer order line.

Pallet ID

The unique identifier for the pallet (Serial Shipping Container Code).

Serial number

The serial number dimension. If you select Edit lines and Explode lines in the upper section of the Receive form, you can change the serial number for the transfer order line.

Filter

Make selections to filter the information that is displayed in the Item forecasts form.
