Use this form to create journal lines for the fixed asset or fixed asset group that you select in the query. This is useful if an invoice and acquisition are posted for partial quantities of a fixed asset, and you must post an acquisition adjustment for the subsequent invoice that fulfilled the quantity by retrieving the invoice from Accounts payable.
The journal lines that you create have a status of Open and a transaction type of Acquisition adjustment. Lines are created by the proposal only if an asset has a status of Open in the value models or depreciation books.
The fields in the form change, depending on the selections you make in the query form. You can select only posted invoices that have a fixed asset assigned and Acquisition adjustment as the transaction type on the line details.
Example
An original invoice is received for partial quantities and you select the New fixed asset? check box on the invoice line to create a fixed asset. You post the invoice, but General ledger is not set up to allow for acquisition transactions to be posted from Accounts payable. When you posted the invoice, the new asset was created in Fixed assets.
Another user generates the asset acquisition using acquisition proposals for the original invoice, and then posts the acquisition transaction. General ledger is not set up to allow for multiple acquisitions. Therefore, any subsequent invoices that are posted to complete the partial invoice must be posted as acquisition adjustments.
The asset status was set to Open when the asset acquisition was posted for the original invoice. Therefore, the user can now process the asset acquisition adjustment. The user periodically uses acquisition adjustment proposals to retrieve subsequent invoice postings for the asset, until the quantity is fully received.
