Environmental conversion (form)

Use this form to create a record that defines a transformation of one type of substance flow into another.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Validate

Ensure that the conversion record does not contain a circular reference. A circular reference is where an incoming substance is converted to another substance and then returns as an incoming substance.

Substance flow details

Open the Substance flows form in a filtered view that shows only the flows that have been created by the selected conversion.

Conversion ID

The unique identifier for the selected conversion record.

Description

Enter a brief description of the transformation that this conversion represents.

Conversion type

Select the conversion type:

  • Incoming - The conversion is made on substance flows that have a destination process in the list of related processes.

  • Outgoing - The conversion is made on substance flows that have a source process in the list of related processes.

Scope

Select the scope for the conversion:

Note

This selection overrides the scope of the incoming substance flows.

  • None – A process that your organization has no control over and does not provide any supplies for.

  • Primary - A process that your organization has direct control over. For example, manufacturing that is performed by your organization.

  • Secondary - A process that supplies materials or substances directly to your organization. For example, a utility that supplies gas or electricity.

  • Tertiary - A process that your organization has no direct control over, but that supplies your organization with some substances. For example, a manufacturer or a trading company that supplies products to your organization.

From date

Select a start date when the selected conversion will be available for use.

To date

Select an end date when the selected conversion will no longer be available for use.

Origin substance

Select the substance to be tracked for the conversion record.

Quantity

Enter the base amount of the substance that is included in the record.

Unit

The unit of measure for the selected substance.

Process ID

View or select the unique identifier of the selected process that is associated with the selected conversion record.

Description

View a brief description of the selected process.

Substance

Select the substance that is created through the conversion.

Quantity

Enter the amount of the substance that is created by the conversion.

Unit

The unit of measure for the substance.

Source process

Select the source, or where the substance is coming from.

Destination process

Select the destination, or where the substance is going.
