Click Compliance and internal controls > Setup > Environmental sustainability > Substances.

Use this form to create a list of substances that your company uses and wants to track for environmental impact. A substance is any material or energy that you want to track. You can use the list for tracking and reporting.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab	Description
Details	Enter or view details about the selected substance.
Item reference	View or enter item information for the item that this substance represents.
Recycling	View or enter information about the recycled content of the selected substance.

Buttons

Button	Description
Substance flow details	Open the Substance flow details form to view or add substances for tracking and reporting.

Fields

Field	Description
Substance	View or enter the name of the substance.
Description	View or enter a brief description of the substance.
Category	Select the category that the substance belongs to.
Units	Select the unit of measure for the substance.
Map color	Select the color that you want to use to represent the substance in the process map component.
Mass (%1) per unit	Enter the mass per unit of the selected substance. For example, you track water as a substance and the unit of measure for water is gallons. However, your system units measure mass in kilograms. You enter 3.6 in the Mass (%1) per unit field because that is the mass in kilograms for one gallon of water.
Volume (%1) per unit	Enter the volume per unit of the selected substance. For example, you track water as a substance and the unit of measure for water is gallons. However, your system units measure volume in liters. You enter 3.78 because that is the volume in liters for one gallon of water.
Item number	Select the item number that corresponds to the substance.
Configuration	Select the dimension that references the configuration of the selected item number.
Size	Select the size that references the configuration of the selected item number.
Color	Enter the color that you want to use to represent the substance that references the configuration of the selected item number.
Percent post-consumer	Enter the amount of the substance, in mass, that is made up of material that was recycled from products that a consumer has used.
Percent pre-consumer	Enter the amount of the substance, in mass, that is made up of material that was recycled before a consumer used it.
Total percentage	The total recyclable amount of the substance.
