Posting restrictions (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click General ledger > Setup > Journals > Journal names. Select a journal name and then click Posting restrictions.

Use this form to set up and maintain posting restrictions for the journal templates in the Journal names form. Posting restrictions determine whether specific users or user groups can post only journals that they create. You can use posting restrictions as an alternative to blocking a user from a form.

Posting restrictions are assigned to the journal name. Therefore, you must specify posting restrictions for each journal name that you want to use them for. By default, no posting restrictions are set up for any journal names, so all users can post any journal, regardless of who created it.

Note

Posting restrictions are not available for some journal types. If the Posting restrictions button is not available in the Journal names form, you cannot use posting restrictions with that journal.

When you set up posting restrictions, existing user group permissions are considered. If the user or the user group that the user belongs to does not have permission to post to the journal type that is selected for the journal name, that user or group is not available, and you cannot define posting restrictions for that user or group.

You can use posting restrictions, in addition to approvals and workflows. For more information, see Set up financial journal approvals.
