Projects (form) (Project Management and Accounting Add-in)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Project management and accounting > Common > Projects > All projects. Open a project from the project list.

Use this form to create and maintain projects. This form includes information about the project number, name, project contract, resource scheduling, group, project status, and other base data. You can also complete the following tasks:

  • Plan and manage the stages of a project.

  • Create subprojects for a parent project.

  • Set up requirements for skills and attributes for a project.

  • Identify and schedule skilled workers on a project.

  • Create an invoice to request an advance payment from a customer.

  • Manage amounts that are retained by a customer.

  • Specify retention terms for customer payments for the project.

  • Specify retention terms for vendors for the project.

These controls are available only if the Project Management and Accounting Add-in is installed.

Description

Vendor agreements

View information about the terms of the vendor agreements that are specified for the project contract.

Payment retention terms

View information about the funding sources for the project contract, and enter information about the retention terms that are specified for the customer for the project contract.

Note

This FastTab is available only if the funding source is a customer.

Scheduling

View information about the scheduling requirements for the project. This information includes the start date and end date, the time that will be required to complete the project, and the number of hours that a worker will require to complete the project.

Project requirements

Enter information about the worker skills and attributes that are required for a project. The Project requirements FastTab contains the following tabs:

  • Education – Enter the level of education that is required for a worker to be assigned to the project.

  • Skills – Enter the skills that are required for the project activity.

  • Certification – Enter certification requirements for the project activity.

  • Project experience – Enter the project experience that is required for the project activity. This FastTab contains the following tabs:

    • Overview – View the project identifier, role, and other details about the worker’s previous project experience.

    • Financial dimensions

      View information about financial dimensions, such as the default dimensions and where the dimensions are used in account structures and advanced rule structures.

  • Other worker attributes – Enter the requirements for additional worker attributes for the project activity.

Project stage, on the Project tab in the Maintain group

Select a project stage to update the current status of the project. The following values are available:

  • Created

  • Estimated

  • Scheduled

  • In process

  • User defined status 1

  • Finished

Assign resources, on the Plan tab in the Activities group

Open the Assign resources form, where you can schedule workers for a project or activity. You can also match the skills and education of workers to the requirements for the project.

Customer advance, on the Manage tab in the Bill group

Open the Customer advance form, where you can create an invoice that requests a customer advance.

Work complete history, on the Manage tab in the Related information group

Open the Work complete history form, where you can view the history for the percentage of work that has been completed on the project contract.

Resource assignment, on the Control tab in the Resource utilization group

Open a menu that contains the following items:

  • Resource assignments – Open this form, where you can assign workers to a project.

  • Resource assignment analysis – Worker – Open this form, where you can review the projects that a worker has been assigned to.

  • Resource assignment analysis – Project – Open this form, where you can review the worker assignments that have been made for a project.

Percentage of work complete, on the General FastTab

Enter the percentage of work that has been completed on the project.

Account code, on the Vendor agreements FastTab

Select the account code that is related to the vendor agreement terms.

Vendor/Vendor group

Select the vendor account that is related to the vendor agreement.

Vendor retention terms

Select the rule ID for the retention terms that were set up for the vendor.

PWP threshold percentage

Enter the percentage of a line item that the customer must pay you before you pay the vendor.

Funding source, on the Payment retention terms FastTab

The identification number of the funding source for which you are retaining funds for the project.

Funding source name

The full name of the funding source.

Customer retention terms

The customer retention terms that are specified in the project contract.

Contract value, on the Finance FastTab

The total value of all on-account transactions that are created for the project contract.

Recognized cost

Costs that are associated with the recognized revenue.

Recognized revenue

Revenue that has been invoiced and posted as income on the project as of the current date.

Project date

The date of the customer invoice.

Sales currency

The currency code on the customer invoice.

Description

A description of the transactions on the customer invoice.

Amount in transaction currency

The total amount on the customer invoice.

Scheduling calendar, on the Scheduling FastTab

The type of calendar that is used for the project.

Project start date

The scheduled start date for a project.

End date

The scheduled end date for a project.

Duration in days

The time, in days, that is required to complete a project.

Effort in hours

The estimated number of worker hours that are required to complete a project.

Schedule status

A value that indicates whether a worker has been scheduled.

Scheduling ignores the calendar of the resource

A selected check box indicates that the worker is considered for assignment to the project, even if the worker is already assigned to another project.

Education

Select how important it is that a worker meet the education requirement for the project activity.

Skills

Select how important it is that a worker meet the skill requirement for the project activity.

Certification

Select how important it is that a worker meet the certification requirement for the project activity.

Project experience

Select how important it is that a worker meet the project experience requirement for the project activity.

Other worker attributes

Select how important it is that a worker meet the additional attribute requirement for the project activity.

Education, on the Education tab of the Project requirements FastTab

Select the type of education that is required for a worker on this project.

Description

The description of the education requirement.

Required

Select this check box if the specified level of education is required for the project.

Importance

Select a value from None to 6 to represent the importance of the education requirement to the project.

Skill, on the Skills tab

Select the type of skill that is required for a worker on this project.

Certificate type, on the Certification tab

Select the type of certification that is required for the project.

Project ID, on the Overview tab of the Project experience tab of the Project requirements FastTab

Select a project that required the type of experience that is also required for the current project. You can specify a worker’s role and other information about the worker’s experience on the selected project.

Attribute group, on the Other worker attributes tab

Select an attribute group that contains the worker skills that you want to add.

Attribute

Select an attribute that describes the skill that you want to add.

Name

The descriptive name for the attribute.
