Organizations for the automatic role assignment rule (form) or Organizations for the user (form)

Click System administration > Setup > Security > Assign users to roles. Select an automatic assignment rule or a user, and then click Assign organizations.
Use this form to grant access to organizations as part of a rule for automatic role assignment. You can also use this form to manually grant access to specific organizations that are in the organization hierarchy for an individual user that is in a selected role.
Navigating the form
The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Grant with children |
Grant access to the selected organization and all organizations that are underneath it in the hierarchy. Select this option if you want user access to automatically change when an organization is added to or removed from the selected hierarchy. For example, when an organization is added to the selected hierarchy, users automatically gain access to the new organization. |
Grant |
Grant access to the selected organization only. |
Revoke |
Revoke access to the selected organization or hierarchy. If you revoke access for an automatic role assignment rule, the access for existing users is revoked the next time that the rule is run. |

Select one of the following options:

Select organization hierarchy |
Select the organization hierarchy that contains the organizations to grant access to. Hierarchies that have a purpose of Security are displayed in the list. Select (All legal entities) to select from a list of legal entities instead of using a hierarchy. |
Available organization nodes: |
Select an organization node in the list of organizations that are in the selected hierarchy. After you select an organization node, click Grant or Grant with children. |
Organization type |
The type of organization: Legal entity or Operating unit. |
Operating unit types |
The type of operating unit, such as department or cost center, if the organization is an operating unit. If the organization is a legal entity, this field displays None. |
Organization name |
The name of the organization. |
Organization ID |
A unique identifier for the organization. |
Hierarchy |
The hierarchy that is used to grant access, if you clicked Grant with children. If you clicked Grant, this field is blank, because access is granted only to the selected organization, regardless of the hierarchy. |
