How to Copy an Existing Virtual Machine to Windows Azure
This section describes how to copy a virtual machine from a VMM installation to Windows Azure. The virtual machine must be in a Stored state before it can be copied.
To copy an existing virtual machine to Windows Azure
Grant the App Controller server access to the VMM library shares. This needs to be done in order to copy resources and virtual machines from the VMM library into Windows Azure the App Controller server.
Using the VMM Console, add the machine account (e.g. AppControllerServer$) or the domain user account to the VMM User role with access to the library share:
If the "App Controller Windows Azure Provider" (cmazure) service is running as "Network Service", then the App Controller machine account needs read-only access to VMM library shares.
If the "App Controller Windows Azure Provider" (cmazure) service is running as a domain user, then that domain user needs read-only access to VMM library shares.
On the Virtual Machines page, right-click a VMM virtual machine and click Copy.
In the New Deployment diagram, click Configure on the Public Cloud tile to select a cloud.
After you have selected a cloud, click Configure on the Cloud service tile to select a cloud service.
After you have selected a cloud service, click Configure on the Virtual Machine tile to configure the virtual machine.
The virtual machine name is automatically populated from the source virtual machine. You must also specify the destination container for the virtual machine.
After you have configured the virtual machine, click Deploy on the diagram page.
