Fields

Field

Description

Calendar type

Select one of the following calendar types for the fiscal calendar:

  • Standard – Select this option for standard fiscal calendars. This option should be used for all fiscal calendars, except those that are used for specific types of fixed asset depreciation. This option uses 360 days as the standard number of days in a year.

  • Day based – Select this option if you are calculating fixed asset depreciation by using either the straight line percentage method or the reducing balance method. This option uses 365 days for typical years and 366 days for leap years. You can also use the Days field to enter the number of days in each period.

Days

Enter the length of the period and select the unit for the periods in the new fiscal year. Depreciation will be calculated based on the actual number of days in the period.

For example, to create a day-based calendar, you enter a period length of 1 and you select Months in the Unit field. The fiscal year will include 12 periods, each being one month long. In the Periods section of the form, in the Days field, you enter the number of days for each month.

This field is available only if Day based is selected in the Calendar type field.
