You can use the Exchange admin center (EAC) for the following types of mailbox conversions:
User mailbox to shared mailbox.
Shared mailbox to user mailbox.
Other types of mailbox conversions require Exchange Online PowerShell:
User mailbox to resource (room or equipment) mailbox
Shared mailbox to resource mailbox
Resource mailbox to user mailbox
Resource mailbox to shared mailbox

Provides a resolution for an issue in which a regular mailbox that was migrated to Exchange Online and then converted to a shared mailbox is unexpectedly disconnected.
You can configure more than one email address for the same mailbox. The additional addresses are called proxy addresses. A proxy address lets a user receive email that's sent to a different email address. Any email message sent to the user's proxy address is delivered to their primary email address, which is also known as the primary SMTP address or the default reply address.
