Retail channel navigation hierarchy (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2

Click Retail > Setup > Category hierarchies > Retail channel navigation hierarchies. On the Retail channel navigation hierarchies list page, in the New group, click Category hierarchy to create a new navigation hierarchy for retail channels. To modify an existing category hierarchy, select the category hierarchy in the list, then click Edit

Use this form to set up the navigation structure for product categories for online stores. When you publish a product catalog for the online store, the products are mapped to the categories that you set up in the retail channel navigation hierarchy. Retail channel navigation hierarchies must be assigned to the Retail channel navigation hierarchy category type.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab	Description
General	View the name, friendly name, status, and other details about the category.
Products	Add products and product variants to the categories in the hierarchy.
Product attribute groups	Assign attribute groups to a selected category.
Category attribute values	Assign values to category attributes. You add category attributes in the Category hierarchy form. For example, you add a Manager attribute to a category, and the data type for this attribute is Text. Therefore, for each category, you enter the name of a category manager as the value for this attribute.

Buttons

Button	Description
Edit category hierarchy	Open the Category hierarchy form, where you can modify the category hierarchy.
Edit presentation text	Open the Catalog product presentation form, where you can enter a detailed description of the category. Note This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.
Images	Open the Images form, where you can add links to one or more images for the category. Note This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.
Videos	Open the Videos form, where you can add links to one or more videos for the category. Note This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.
Add	Add a product to a category.
Add products	Open the Add products form, where you can add one or more products or product variants to the category.
Reset value	Clear values that are assigned to category attributes in the selected category.
Product attribute groups Add	Open the Category attribute groups form, where you can select the attribute groups to assign to the selected category.
View attributes	Open the Attribute groups from, where you can view the list of product attributes that are assigned to the selected attribute group.

Fields

Field	Description
Name	The name of the category.
Commodity code	The identification number of the commodity code that is assigned to the category.
Active	A selected check box indicates that the category is activated.
Activated date:	The date that the category became activated.
Modified date:	If the category was modified, the date of the last modification.
Retail attribute group type	Select the purpose for the attributes in the attribute group. Select one of the following values: Default – The attributes apply to all aspects of the products. Specification – The attributes apply to the product specifications only for the products. For example, if the product is a computer, the product specifications might include details about the operating system and processor.
Inherit attribute groups from parent category:	Select this check box to indicate that the category inherits the attribute groups that you assign to the parent of the category.
Inherited from	The name of the category from which the attributes were inherited.
