Computer Endpoints

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

Computer endpoints are the computers or the group of computers that form peers for the connection. You can specify a single computer, a group of computers, such as a subnet or computers in an IP address range, or one of the predefined computers: Default Gateway, WINS servers, DHCP servers, DNS servers, or Local Subnet. The Local Subnet is the collection of all computers available to this computer, except for any public IP addresses (interfaces). This includes both local area network (LAN) and wireless addresses.

Note

The connection security rule will apply to communications between any computer in Endpoint 1 and any computer in Endpoint 2. To have connection security rules that apply only to specific pairs of computers, create a connection security rule for each pair.
