How to: Enable or Disable Proactive Caching for a Partition

You configure proactive caching for a partition using the Partitions view in Cube Designer, which is available in Business Intelligence Development Studio. .

To configure proactive caching

  1. Open the cube that contains the partition for which you want to configure proactive caching.

  2. On the Cube menu, point to View, and then click Partitions.

  3. In Partitions view, do one of the following:

    • To configure proactive caching for a specific partition, click the Storage settings link under the partition that you want to configure.
      The Measure Group Storage Settings dialog box opens.
  4. Click Options.

  5. In the Storage Options dialog box, select the Enable proactive caching check box.

  6. On the General tab, define the options for proactive caching settings. For more information about proactive caching, see Proactive Caching.

  7. (Optional) In the Cache Settings group, specify the interval at which each setting is measured, specify when to drop an outdated cache, and when to update the cache.

  8. (Optional) In the Options group, specify other options for proactive caching. For more information about the options in this dialog box, see General (Storage Options Dialog Box) (SSAS).

  9. (Optional) On the Notifications tab, specify the notification method. For more information about notifications, see Notifications (Storage Options Dialog Box) (SSAS).

  10. Click OK.

To disable proactive caching

  1. Open the cube that contains the partition you want to change.

  2. Click the StorageSettings link under the partition that you want to configure.

  3. Click Options.

  4. In the Storage Options dialog box, clear the Enable proactive caching check box, and then click OK.
