SMS 2003 SP1 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded gives hardware devices that are based on Windows XP Embedded operating system the ability to be managed by SMS 2003. These devices include, but are not restricted to, point of sale (POS) terminals, automated teller machines (ATMs) and Windows-based thin clients. Capabilities
The SMS 2003 SP1 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded shares most of the SMS 2003 Advanced Client features, with the following differences:
Remote control functionality provided by Windows XP Remote Assistance along with native Windows XP Remote Desktop Connection functionality. SMS remote control is not present in the SMS 2003 SP1 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded.
Deployment of updates utilizing the SMS 2003 distribute software updates wizard. SMS 2003 SP1 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded can distribute software updates, but it does not run the MBSA scanner on the devices. Software Requirements
SMS 2003 SP1 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded requires the following software:
Microsoft Windows XP Embedded with SP1 or SP2
SMS 2003 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded requires Windows XP Embedded SP1 at a minimum. Windows XP Embedded SP2 is recommended.For more information about Windows XP Embedded SP, see the Windows XP Embedded System Requirements page. Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
SMS 2003 server software is required for functional use of the SMS 2003 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded. This release is compatible with both SMS 2003 and SMS 2003 SP1. SMS 2003 SP1 is recommended. A Configuration Management License (CML) is required for every device running SMS 2003 SP1 Advanced Client for Windows XP Embedded.
