View infrared device properties

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To view infrared device properties

  1. Open Wireless Link in Control Panel.

  2. On the Hardware tab, click the infrared device for which you want to view properties, and then click Properties.

Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open a Control Panel item, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click the appropriate icon.

  • In the Windows Server 2003 family, only Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, supports infrared networking.

  • The Wireless Link icon appears in Control Panel only if an infrared device is already installed on your computer.

  • If a device that is connected to your computer is not listed, you need to add it. For more information, see Related Topics.

  • The infrared device Properties dialog box shows the device status, driver files, and power management settings for an infrared device.
