Each client computer that is in an RMS system must have the RMS client installed. The RMS client is required for using RMS-enabled applications.

The RMS client for Service PackĀ 1 and later is "self-activating." As part of the installation, it creates a lockbox and machine certificate. Each user account on a computer activates an RMS client the first time that the user attempts to use an RMS feature.
