Engine and Definition Versions Report
The Engine and Definition Versions report is used to collect and present data about the antivirus engine versions and definitions on selected servers running Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server or Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint. FPSMC compares the current engine versions of the managed servers with the latest versions in the FPSMC cache to determine which, if any, of your signatures are out of date.
To view the Engine and Definition Versions report
Click Engine and Definition Versions, located in the Navigation Area under Reports, to open the Engine and Definition Versions work pane.
Under Select Products, you can choose to run the report for your Exchange servers, your SharePoint servers, or both. By default, both are selected.
Select the servers that you would like to include in the report. By default, no servers are selected.
Note
If you select only one of the two available products, only those managed servers will appear in the Select Servers list. For example, if you select to only include SharePoint products in the report, only your managed SharePoint servers will appear in the Select Servers list.
Click Generate Report. The Engine and Definition Versions report appears.
Note
Before viewing the report, you should first open the Global Configuration work pane and click the Poll Now button to ensure that the FPSMC has the most recent data from the managed servers.
Viewing the Engine and Definition Versions report
The Engine and Definition Versions report displays a table of all the engines installed on servers managed by the FPSMC, sorted by server. It displays the following information for each engine.
Current |
The status of the engine, where Current indicates the engine is up-to-date and Out-of-date indicates the engine needs to be updated Note This column is meant to be utilized with a signature redistribution job, to enable visibility into engine status on your managed servers. See Signature Redistribution Jobs for more information. |
Engine |
The name of the engine. |
Platform |
The platform type. |
Server |
The name of the server on which the engine is installed. |
Engine Version |
The version number of the engine. |
Definition Version |
The version number of the definition. |
Update Version |
The version number of the update. |
Last Checked |
The time the FPSMC last checked for new updates. |
Last Updated |
The last time an update was actually downloaded and applied. This will vary from engine to engine since each vendor updates at different times. |
If you find that some of your engines are not updating, you should manually run a Signature Redistribution job that targets the managed servers with the out-of-date engines. Alternately, you can create a new job that targets the managed servers with the out-of-date updates. For more information about Signature Redistribution jobs, see Signature Redistribution Jobs.
The engines are listed in alphabetical order by the Server column.
