Configuration baselines in Configuration Manager 2007 must be assigned to one or more collections before client computers in those collections can assess their compliance with the configuration baseline. During the assignment process, you are prompted for both a collection and a compliance evaluation schedule. The collection and compliance schedule then become additional properties of the configuration baseline, which can be viewed with a new tab named Assignments.

Each configuration baseline can have multiple assignments, each with their own compliance evaluation schedule. The default value for an assignment's evaluation schedule is taken from the schedule setting in the General tab of the desired configuration management client agent properties.

There are therefore two ways to set the compliance evaluation schedule for a configuration baseline:

  • In the Set Schedule page of the Assign Configuration Baseline Wizard.

  • In the Assignment tab of the configuration baseline properties, after the configuration baseline has been assigned.

To set the compliance evaluation schedule using the Assign Configuration Baseline Wizard

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Desired Configuration Management / Configuration Baselines.

  2. Right-click the configuration baseline you want to assign, and click Assign to a Collection to launch the Assign Configuration Baseline Wizard.

  3. On the Choose Configuration Baselines page, select the configuration baseline displayed, and then click Next.

  4. On the Choose Collection page, specify the collection by typing in the name or using the Browse button and click Next.

  5. On the Set Schedule page, click either Simple and specify the Run every settings, or click Custom and click Customize to define a more complex schedule. Click Next.

  6. On the Summary page, click Next.

  7. On the Confirmation page, click Close.
