Task Sequence Media Wizard - Media Type Page

Aplica-se a: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

The Media Type page assists you in creating stand-alone or bootable media to run your image deployment. You can create a CD, DVD, or a bootable USB flash drive. These three media are stand-alone media and are able to run offline from the Configuration Manager 2007 infrastructure. The source computer must be running a Microsoft Windows operating system. If you specify a USB bootable flash drive as the media type and you have a task sequence step that will cause the computer to restart, you must configure the target computer's BIOS to boot from the hard disk or the computer will boot using the attached media.

noteNota
Formatting capability is only available for Windows Vista Premium Hardware.

This page contains the elements described in the following table.

Name Description

USB Flash drive

Writes files to a USB flash drive. This option is enabled only if a USB flash drive is plugged into the local computer. The dropdown will be populated with the drive letters of suitable drives. If running on Windows Vista the USB flash drive will be formatted and made bootable. If running on an earlier version of the Windows operating system the drive must already be bootable. The best way to ensure that the drive is bootable is to format it on Windows Vista or Windows 7 using this wizard. Once made bootable the drive's contents can be rewritten on computers running earlier versions of the Windows operating system.

ImportantImportante
You must format the USB media with the Windows Vista operating system. To format the media for Windows Vista, connect the USB media to a computer running Windows Vista and format the media. The FAT 16 file system format is not supported for use with USB media.

CD\DVD set

Creates an ISO files bootable CD or DVD set. If multiple pieces of media are needed, a sequence number will be appended to the name of each piece of media. For stand-alone media, use the Media size list to specify the size of the media you are using.

Media file

Specifies the name of the ISO file created.

noteNota
Selecting an existing .iso image using the Task Sequence Media Wizard will delete that .iso image from the drive or share as soon as you proceed to the next step of the media creation process even if you then cancel the wizard.
