How to Edit the ClientSettings.ini File for Mobile Device Management

Aplica-se a: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1, System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP2

The ClientSettings.ini file is distributed to mobile devices when manually installing the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 client on a mobile device or when distributing configuration information over the air to a Configuration Manager 2007 managed device. The installation of the mobile device client is dependent on proper configuration of the ClientSettings.ini file. The ClientSettings.ini file is platform specific.

If distributing an upgrade package to a single mobile device platform, create a unique ClientSettings.ini file for that platform in your environment. A sample ClientSettings.ini file is located in <ConfigMgrInstallationPath> \ DeviceClientDeployment \ ClientTransfer on Configuration Manager 2007 servers by default.

Unique ClientSettings.ini files are required for each of the following platforms:

  • Windows Mobile Smartphone 5.0

  • Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003

  • Windows Mobile Pocket PC 5.0

  • Windows Pocket PC 2003

  • Windows CE 5 for ARM

  • Windows CE 5 for x86

  • Windows CE 4.2 for ARM

For more information about the .ini file values, see Mobile Device Client Configuration Values for DMCommonInstaller.ini and ClientSettings.ini.

Windows Mobile 6 operating systems use Windows Mobile 5 mobile device client settings. Windows Mobile 6 clients are installed with the following values:

Operating System Mobile Device Client Type

Windows Mobile 6 Standard

Windows Mobile Smartphone 5.0

Windows Mobile 6 Professional

Windows Mobile Pocket PC 5.0

Windows Mobile 6 Classic

Windows Mobile Pocket PC 5.0
