About Windows Event Log Entries Created by the Backup Process

The Backup ConfigMgr Site Server maintenance task writes backup status to Windows Server Application. event log.

The following table lists the events written to the Application event log during site backups:

 

Event Log ID Message

Event ID 5055

SMS Site Backup task is starting. This task will interact with the windows VSS services and the appropriate writers to create a volume snapshot and then back up the required files to the specified destination.

Event ID 6829

SMS Writer is about to stop the SMS Services as part of the preparation of the SMS Site backup

Event ID 3197

I/O is frozen on database SMS_<site code>. No user action is required. However, if I/O is not resumed promptly, you could cancel backup.

Event ID 3198

I/O was resumed on database SMS_<site code>. No user action is required.

Event ID 18264

Database backed up.

Event ID 6830

Component SMS_SITE_VSS_WRITER on computer <site server> reported: the snapshots of the volumes required for the SMS backup have been successfully created.

Event ID6831

SMS Writer has started the SMS Services successfully

Event ID 5056

SMS Site Backup is starting to copy the files from the snapshot.

Event ID 5057

SMS Site Backup has successfully completed copying the files from the snapshot.

Event ID 6833

SMS backup task has completed successfully
