Powering on computers by using out of band management in Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later allows computers assigned to the site to wake up if they are in a sleep state—for example, if they are in hibernation or turned off—so that they can respond to scheduled management tasks.

As informações neste tema aplicam-se apenas ao Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 ou posterior.

Computers can be brought out of a sleep state using the following methods:

  • By sending wake-up packets from the site server, without establishing a session with target computers and without authentication.

  • By sending power on commands from the out of band service point, using an established and authenticated session.

Before computers can be woken up using power on commands, you must install an out of band service point and computers must be provisioned for out of band management. For more information, see How to Install the Out of Band Service Point and How to Provision Computers for AMT.

To help you decide whether to use wake-up packets or power on commands, see Choose Between Power On Commands with Out of Band Management and Wake-Up Packets for Wake On LAN.

To configure the site to send power on commands using out of band management

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System CenterConfiguration Manager / Site Database / Site Management.

  2. Right-click <site code> -<site name>, and then click Properties.

  3. On the Wake On LAN tab in the site properties dialog box, select the option Enable Wake On LAN for this site, and then select one of the following options:

    • Use power on commands if the computer supports this technology; otherwise, use wake-up packets

    • Use power on commands only

  4. Click OK.
