How to Perform Manual Library Refreshes

Applies To: Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1

You can manually refresh an individual library share or library server after you add files to library shares by using the following procedures. By default, VMM performs a library refresh once each hour, indexing files on all library shares. For information about the file types that are indexed, see File Types That Are Indexed During a Library Refresh.

To refresh a library share manually

  1. In Library view, expand Library Servers, and then navigate to the library share that you want to refresh.

  2. With the library share selected, in the Actions pane, under Library Share, click Refresh share.

All files on the share are immediately indexed in Virtual Machine Manager and are added to Library view.

To refresh a library server manually

  1. In Library view, expand Library Server, and then navigate to the library server that you want to refresh.

  2. With the library server selected, in the Actions pane, under Library Server, click Refresh library server.

All files on the designated library shares on the library server are immediately indexed in Virtual Machine Manager and are added to Library view.
