How to Modify the Properties of a Guest Operating System Profile

Applies To: Virtual Machine Manager 2008, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2, Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1

You can modify any of the settings in an existing guest operating system profile. After you make changes, any new virtual machines that are created by using that profile will use the updated configuration settings. Changes do not affect existing virtual machines that were created earlier by using this profile, nor do they affect settings on a template or virtual machine into which this profile was imported earlier. No association is maintained with the guest operating system profile after a virtual machine or template is created.

To modify the properties of a guest operating system profile:

  1. In Library view, click the Profiles node in the navigation pane, and then double-click the guest operating system profile in the results pane.

  2. Click the Guest OS tab and modify the properties as described in How to Customize the Operating System of a Virtual Machine
