Network access: Remotely accessible registry paths

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Network access: Remotely accessible registry paths

Description

This security setting determines which registry paths can be accessed over the network, regardless of the users or groups listed in the access control list (ACL) of the winreg registry key. For information about the winreg registry key, see article Q153183, "How to Restrict Access to the Registry from a Remote Computer," in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

Caution

  • Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on the computer.

Note

  • This security setting is not available on earlier versions of Windows. The security setting that appears on computers running Windows XP, "Network access: Remotely accessible registry paths" corresponds to the "Network access: Remotely accessible registry paths and subpaths" security option on members of the Windows Server 2003 family. For more information, see Network access: Remotely accessible registry paths and subpaths.

Default:

  • System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ProductOptions

  • System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Server Applications

  • Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
