What is the desktop version of Remote Web Access?

Updated: March 30, 2011

Applies To: Windows Home Server 2011

When you use a mobile phone to log on to your Remote Access Web URL, the website recognizes that you are using a mobile phone and displays only the Shared folders page. The Home page is not available, and the options that are available on the Home page are not available.

If the browser that you are using supports the desktop web site, when you click View desktop version, you will have access to the Remote Access Web home page. This allows you to use Remote Access Web on your mobile phone in the same way that you use Remote Access Web on your desktop or laptop computer.

Note

If the screen width on your mobile device is wider than 640 pixels, you are automatically directed to the desktop version of the web site instead of the mobile version.

To return to the mobile version of Remote Web Access, log off of the website, and then log on again by typing https://<DomainName>/Remote/m in the web browser address bar. When the mobile version of the log in page is displayed, type in your user name and password, and then click the arrow.
