Code 51: This device is currently waiting on another device or set of devices to start

Device Manager displays the following message in the Device Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Device Status text box:

This device is currently waiting on another device or set of devices to start. (Code 51).

Diagnosis

The device did not start because it has a dependency on another device that has not started. This error is likely to have occurred due to the failure of a Simple Peripheral Bus (SPB) controller, such as an I2C or Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) controller; the controller’s failure causes attached devices to fail as well.

Resolution

Review the error code for the SPB controller to diagnose the reason for the controller’s failure.
