Data integration architecture

This topic provides a brief architectural overview of data integration.

Architecture

Data integration architecture has several layers. The following illustration shows roles and relationships between the source data and clients that use 规划服务器. The mission for data integration is to move data into the application database. After data is in the application database, clients will use that data. The illustration is followed with a description of related parts.

Data Sources

Data sources are stored as part of the business data of an organization. The data may come from the operational systems of the organization. Because operational systems contain raw data that is generally not in an appropriate format for analysis, you must first load data into a staging database. Then you can load it into the application database.

The process for bringing data from other sources into the staging database is a manual process that is not supported by 规划服务器.

PerformancePoint Planning Server Application Store

规划服务器 installs its own databases to contain the metadata for models and dimensions, and the system operations. It contains data structures for dimensions, hierarchies, and models that you can use for analysis and planning.

Staging Database

The staging database is a separate data cache (storage area) that allows business users of PerformancePoint Excel 加载项 to have continued access to application data. They have access even when data is being imported from various external sources and prepared for loading.
