This documentation is updated on a regular basis. To obtain the most current version, go to PerformancePoint Server on Microsoft Office Online (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=96771).

This procedure installs and configures the PerformancePoint Planning System Database component. This procedure assumes that you have run the MSI setup to expand all installation files to the local computer where the PerformancePoint Planning System Database component is installed. The following steps begin after the Planning Configuration Manager has been run and is open to the Welcome page.

Note: Please refer to the PerformancePoint Server 2007 Operations Guide “Maintaining Planning Server Databases” topic for the details about Planning Server databases and their databases physical storage design guidelines. The sub-topic “Planning Server Physical Database Storage Design” contains the information about database data and log file design, tempdb placement, and file groups design. The physical database storage design information is important for the deployment process.

Install the Planning System Database

  1. On the Welcome page, click Next.

  2. On Installation Options page select only the PerformancePoint Planning System Database component, and then click Next.

  3. On the System Database screen, select the SQL Server or SQL Server instance, and then click Next.

Note

Two options are available for the Planning System Database. Create or Provision. Create should be selected if no previous PerformancePoint PPSPlanningSystem and PPSPlanningService databases exist. The user who is running the Planning system install must have dbcreator role in the SQL Server computer to be able to choose the Create option. Provision should be selected if your Database Administrator has manually created the PPSPlanningSystem database and the PPSPlanningService database for you. They only create the empty databases. The Provision selection will use these pre-created databases and populate the PPSPlanning System database contents.

  1. On the Global Administration Account page, set the account to be used for the Global Administrator Role (GA).
  2. On the Validation page, review that all validations are successful, and then click Next.
