Dial-up Networking Entry - General Tab

On the General tab, you specify whether you want to allow file and printer sharing by using this connection, and which versions of IP you want to support.

Setting Description

Name

Specifies the name of the dial-up networking entry. If you are editing an existing entry, then the name is already set, and you cannot change it here.

Disable file and printer sharing

Select this check box to specify that the protocols used for file and printer sharing cannot be used by this connection.

Enable clients to establish the following connectivity

Choices include:

  • Only IPv4 address. Specifies that the client receives only an IPv4 address, and cannot communicate by using IPv6.

  • Only IPv6 address. Specifies that the client receives only an IPv6 address, and cannot communicate by using IPv4.

  • Both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. This is the default option, which specifies that the client receives both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, and that it can communicate using either protocol.

Configuration options for the IPv4 and IPv6 protocols are set on the IPv4 and IPv6 tabs of the New/Edit Dial-up Networking Entry dialog box.

Dial-up networking script

If required, specifies a script file that is run as part of the connection process to further customize the dial-up connection environment.
