The MAPI call '%1' failed with the following error: %n%2

Explanation

  • This Error event indicates that a MAPI call failed. This message indicates that the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant process has been unable to log on to the Mailbox database or Public Folder database. This error may be logged when the following conditions occur.

  • Mounting a mailbox database or public folder databasewhen the System Attendant is trying to generate an Offline Address Book.

  • Databases are down and the System Attendant is trying to perform routine management tasks.

  • Attempting to perform a Move Request operation.

Note This event may be logged at the rate of one every minute on a clustered Exchange Server.

This event can have several causes. The cause of the error depends on the ID number that is specified in the event description. The following event IDs may be included in the events: 8004011d-0519-0000000, 80040111-0286-00000000, 8004011d-0289-00000000.

Some of the possible causes of this error are as follows:

  • The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is not running.

  • The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is running, but one or more databases are not mounted.

  • The Read System Access Control List (SACL) of the Exchange Enterprise Group is lost.

  • The MDBDATA folder has incorrect permissions.

  • The System Attendant service is running with a different user account than "Local System."

  • The System Mailbox object that is created for this mailbox database exists in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container

User Action

To resolve this event, do one or more of the following:

  • Verify that the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is running.

  • Make sure that the default mailbox database is mounted.

  • Run setup /preparedomain.

  • Verify the permissions on the MDBDATA folder.

  • Change the properties of the System Attendant service so that it runs in the context of the Local System Account.
