Explanation

This Error event indicates that an Exchange server component failed. In this message text, '%1' is the name of the component, such as the Mailbox Role.

After you install Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, you can verify the installation by running the Get-ExchangeServer cmdlet and by reviewing the setup log file. If the setup process fails or errors occur during installation, you can use the setup log file to track down the source of the problem.

User Action

  • If the component that fails is the Hub Transport Role, this is typically when a timeout issue occurs during service start or when IPv6 is not disabled on tunnel interfaces. In this case, you must disable IPv6 on the tunnel interface.

  • If the component that fails is the Mailbox role, the federated built-in e-mail account that links to the computer account may no longer exist. Or, the federated built-in e-mail account in the Active Directory directory service is corrupted.   • If the component that fails is the Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services an antivirus program may be configured to include scans of Exchange Server folders and files. Make sure that you exclude the Exchange Server folders and files from a virus scan.
