Message Text

DSAccess returned an error '%1' on DS notification. Microsoft Exchange System Attendant will reset DS notification later.

Explanation

This Error event indicates the Exchange server is unable to access a domain controller. This event commonly occurs when a domain controller is restarted, if that is the only domain controller in the site to which the Exchange server belongs. This event can also occur if your Domain Name System (DNS) configuration is incorrectly configured.

User Action

To resolve this error, do one or more of the following:

  • The client Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) connections should get re-established automatically, and the errors should go away after this re-establishment has taken place. We recommend that additional domain controllers be installed in the site to avoid such errors.

  • Make sure that both the primary and alternate DNS servers listed in the Exchange server IP Properties are running and have been configured properly.

  • Check the domain controller to ensure that it is running correctly. For example, make sure that it is not restarting unnecessarily.

  • If you are having difficulty resolving the issue, contact Microsoft Product Support. For information about contacting support, visit the Contact Us page of the Microsoft Help and Support Web site.

For more information about domain controllers and LDAP connections, refer to Windows documentation.
