Explanation

This Information event indicates that the Microsoft Exchange Transport service messaging policy configuration has been updated. This event is logged when the Microsoft Exchange Transport service starts or when transport rules are modified.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 includes the functionality to apply messaging policies to e-mail messages that move through the transport pipeline on servers that are running the Hub Transport role or the Edge Transport role. These transport policies are a series of rules that administrators configure to enforce an organization's messaging policies.

The messaging rules are parsed by the transport rule agent component that works with the message categorizer to act on messages moving through the transport pipeline. Transport rules are stored in the configuration container in the Active Directory directory service. When changes are made to the transport rules, Active Directory notifies the transport server to update its configuration. The transport server reloads the rule configuration from Active Directory, and then uses the new information for subsequent message transfer operations.

Note   Edge Transport servers do not have access to Active Directory. Instead, configuration information and recipient information is stored on the local computer in the Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) store. For more information, see MSExchangeTransport 16028.
