Explanation

This Warning event indicates that message tracking is enabled, but the message tracking log path is specified as null. This Warning event occurs when the following conditions are true:

• The value of the MessageTrackingLogEnabled parameter is set to $true on the Set-TransportServer cmdlet or the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet.

• The value of the MessageTrackingLogPath parameter is set to $null on the Set-TransportServer cmdlet or the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet.

By default, message tracking is enabled on all Hub Transport servers, Mailbox servers, and Edge Transport servers. To disable message tracking, the preferred method is to set the MessageTrackingLogEnabled parameter to $false on the Set-TransportServer cmdlet or the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet. However, you can also effectively disable message tracking by setting the MessageTrackingLogPath parameter to $null on the Set-TransportServer cmdlet or the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet.

User Action

To resolve this warning, do one of the following:

• If you want to disable message tracking, set the value of the MessageTrackingLogEnabled parameter to $false on the Set-TransportServer cmdlet or the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet.

• If you want to enable message tracking, set the value of the MessageTrackingLogEnabled parameter to $true on the Set-TransportServer cmdlet or the Set-MailboxServer cmdlet. Use the MessageTrackingLogPath parameter to specify a location for the message tracking logs. The default value is C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTracking.
