Source servers belonging to different Active Directory sites were detected for connector '%1' in routing tables with timestamp %2. Only the closest site will be used and load-balancing will be affected.

Explanation

This Warning event indicates that a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Send connector or foreign connector has been configured to use source servers that are located in different Active Directory sites. When routing to this connector, the source Hub Transport server routes to the closest source server only. Configuring more than one source server for a connector provides load balancing. However, when the source servers are located in different Active Directory sites, load balancing across the source servers does not occur.

User Action

To resolve this error, do the following:

  • Modify the connector to specify source servers from only a single Active Directory site. You can also configure a connector with the same address space in each Active Directory site, specifying source servers from only the home Active Directory site. Load balancing will not occur across the connectors. If you do this, routing will always select the connector with the lowest cost, proximity, and finally the lowest alphanumeric name.
