Verifying the software prerequisites for a four-server topology

Applies To: Forefront Client Security

It is recommended that after you install the software prerequisites, you verify the installation and configuration of SQL Server before installing Client Security.

To verify the installation of SQL Server

  1. On the collection server and the reporting server, check to see whether the SQL Server service and SQL Server Agent service are running: In Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, double-click Services, and then look for the corresponding service display names.

  2. If the services aren't running or for more details, see Troubleshooting an Installation of the SQL Server Database Engine (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=85611).

To verify the installation and configuration of Reporting Services

  1. On the reporting server, check to see whether the Report Server service is running: In Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, double-click Services, and then look for SQL Server Reporting Services.

  2. On both the reporting server and the management server, open a browser, and then type the reporting server URL in the Address bar. The address consists of the server name and the virtual directory name ReportServer. Use the following URL:
    http://computername**/reportserver**
If you use a named instance of SQL Server, use the following URL: **https://computername/reportserver$**instancename

  3. If you cannot connect to the reporting server URL from both the reporting server and the management server (or if you see errors when connecting), verify that you have added the site to the Local intranet zone in Internet Explorer on both computers. If you have added the site and you still cannot connect, see Troubleshooting Server and Database Connection Problems (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=86414).
