Client Security Best Practices Analyzer tool: SQL Server check

Applies To: Forefront Client Security

If your Client Security installation manages more than 3000 client computers, then it is highly recommended that you use SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition and not SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. For more information about Client Security and SQL Server 2005 editions, see the Client Security Performance and Scalability Guide (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=89661).

To determine if your version of SQL Server is supported, the Microsoft Forefront Client Security Best Practices Analyzer tool determines the version of SQL Server on the local server. If the version is Enterprise, then the check passes. If the version is Standard and the number of client computers in your deployment exceeds 3000, then the check fails.

If the check fails, you should consider upgrading to SQL Server Enterprise Edition.

Important

This check is not supported on the collection database server in the six-server topology.
